What’s On Tap for MiniBooks

Reaction has been overwhelmingly positive for MiniBooks since we released it a few weeks ago, even earning us a spot on Apple’s New and Noteworthy section. Score! Since release, we’ve added:

  • Support for major currencies: USD, CAD, EUR, GBP, and AUD.
  • Better support for poor internet connections: changes are submitted in the background rather than forcing you to wait for them to go through.

We’re feverishly putting the final touches on our current update, which includes the following:

  • Support for estimates. Hooray! This was one of the more popular feature requests.
  • Even better support for poor network conditions.
  • More of the overall polish you should expect from us. You know how the client information shifts up abruptly after the pending message disappears? We’re not huge fans of that. Expect something a bit nicer with this next update.

“That’s all fine and and dandy,” you say, but what about this feature or that feature. Fair enough. Here’s what we have planned for our next couple major updates:

  • Support for projects and tasks. Along with estimates, these are the most requested features. Rest assured, they’re at the very top of our queue.
  • Invoicing from time entries. This is a little tricky since the FreshBooks API doesn’t tell us whether a time entry has been billed or not. We’re confident we’ll figure something out.

Course, we have plenty of other improvements up our sleeves, but hopefully this will be enough to whet your appetites.

Keep the great feedback coming, and as always, leave us a nice review at the App Store if you’re feeling particularly gracious. They make us feel warm and fuzzy inside and we like feeling that way.

MiniBooks Lite is in the App Store!

For those of you who like to try before you buy, a free version of MIniBooks, MiniBooks Lite, is now available on the iTunes App Store. Aside from a three client limit, MiniBooks Lite has all of the same great features as its big brother, including invoice and client management, multiple timers, and offline sync.

MiniBooks for FreshBooks is Available!

Our second iPhone application, MiniBooks, is now available in the Apple App Store.  MiniBooks is invoicing software for small businesses built on top of the popular web application FreshBooks.  The final product ended up being a lot more ambitious than our original concept, and therefore taking a lot more time than we’d planned, but I’m very, very pleased with the result.  MiniBooks is by far the most beautiful piece of software we’ve ever built.  In fact, I’d go so far as to say it’s one of the nicest looking pieces of productivity/business software available for the iPhone.  Of course, if I was responsible for the design, it would look like this, so I give most of the credit to Groovy Squared’s lead designer, James.

Enough shameless bragging.  Time to tell you about the software.  For those of you who don’t know about FreshBooks, it’s a great web app for small businesses that need to generate invoices.  It’s simple, well designed, and affordable (they even have a free account for really small companies).  The only thing missing is a good way to interface with FreshBooks on the go.

That’s where MiniBooks comes in.  MiniBooks gives users full access to their clients and invoices directly from their iPhone.  Meet a potential client in the subway?  No problem, add them right there.  Just deposited a payment at the bank?  Apply it to the appropriate invoice on the spot.  Finishing up a project at a client site?  Send them an invoice before you leave the building.  Best of all, your data syncs to the phone, so when your cell phone provider’s crappy network cuts out, you aren’t left high and dry.  For a complete product description, visit the MiniBooks website or its App Store product page.

And this is just the beginning!  We’ll be cranking out support for estimates, expenses, and projects just as fast as our little fingers can type.  Come back often to see what’s going on with development.  Even better, after you’ve bought MiniBooks, let us know what you think.  We have a lot of ideas for the future, but we can’t think of everything, so help us out.

Go forth, eager iPhone users, and invoice your little hearts out.
